The Body You Want – Why You Need To Work On All Areas Of Your Life

So many times, people start diet and exercise programs that work in the short-term but fail to give lasting, long-term results.  You may have experienced this firsthand – feeling the highs of success, followed by the disappointment of gaining all (or more!) weight back.  Or working out consistently for a while and then stopping your fitness routine altogether. Oftentimes, this is due, not only to the harsh and unrealistic diet and exercise plans chosen, but to other life stresses, as well.  Life stress can come from many sources – work, partners, family, friends, daily responsibilities and errands, finances, etc.  And sometimes they can feel overwhelming.  When you get stressed and get busy trying to deal with all these stresses in your life, your body transformation progress slows down or comes […]

How Visualization Can Help You Meet Your Body Goals

When I first stumbled upon the Law of Attraction a few years ago, I was very skeptical at first.  But the more I delved into it, put it into practice in my life, and saw results, the more I became a believer.  And, even if you don’t believe 100% in the whole thing, it simply can never hurt to think positively instead of negatively.  That alone, is bound to change your outlook on life!   What is the Law of Attraction The main principle behind visualization and the Law of Attraction is that what you think about, you bring about.  Whatever you focus your attention and emotions on will inevitably manifest in your life.  So, if you’re focused on all the negatives and things you don’t want in your life, […]

How To Get Started On Your Food Lifestyle Change

Long-lasting healthy results.  That is the one and only goal when changing your food lifestyle.  The key is to put a plan in place that becomes just that – a lifestyle.  Not a diet.  You want something that is realistic, something you can stick to for a long period of time.  Sure, you may change things up here and there as you go along, but you need to create a baseline habit of eating healthy.  This habit needs to be easy and manageable for you and your life. Start Small The best way to start off your food lifestyle change is to start small.  Begin by making just a few healthier choices, but ones that you will be able to stick to permanently.  Try drinking more water instead of sugary […]

Lifestyle Change, NOT a Diet

Diets fail. Plain and simple. It’s pretty much guaranteed that if you “go on a diet” then you will, within months if not weeks, gain back everything you lost. And many times yo-yo dieting will cause you to gain even more than when you started. Mentally, going on a diet makes you feel deprived. You may be able to eat way less, eat stuff that you don’t like, restrict calories or fats or carbs for a short time. But without changing your lifestyle and putting into place a system that will work for you and that you can stick to long-term, you’re destined for failure. After a short time of being on your diet, you’re going to cave in to temptation. And then, after remembering how good all that yummy […]

Passion vs. Purpose

I’ve always been jealous of those people who were really, really into something – a sport, a hobby, a career, whatever. Those people who knew what they loved doing, have been doing it forever, and were dedicated to getting better at it. So much so that it was just a part of who they were. It has never been easy for me to figure out what my “true passion” is. I recently discovered the word “neophile” and think that it fits me perfectly –  “a personality type characterized by a strong affinity for novelty.” I like change, trying new things, and I get bored easily. There hasn’t been one hobby that I’ve stuck to long-term. I have a lot of random interests – in the past couple months alone, I’ve […]

Start Before You’re Ready

I’m a Type-A perfectionist. And, while perfectionism can certainly be beneficial at times, it more often than not only paralyzes me. I will research and try to gather all the information (and I mean all of it) about something before even considering getting in the ring with it. I fear moving forward and taking action until I know 100% that something is going to work. And, of course, you can never really know that. While I love change in some ways – I enjoy moving to new cities, finding all new friends and relationships, trying out numerous hobbies and passions – if it’s something I feel is going to be in my life long-term, then I need to know for sure it’s just perfect. Logical me knows this is unreasonable […]

Dreams Don’t Work Unless You Do

I’m a dreamer. From as young as I can remember I’ve always had these massive dreams of wealth. I’m talking full-on mansion on the beach with maids and cooks and servants and cars and lavish vacations. Multi-billionaire. At 10 years old, there wasn’t a question in my mind. I knew like I knew like I knew that I would have it. Fast forward to age 30, and I’m sitting here wondering where those millions of bucks are that I was so sure I’d have by now. Age 30 was a wake up call (one that I wish I had way sooner). I began to realize that, although I’ve accomplished some impressive stuff in my life – I grew up pretty poor and was the first person on my mother’s side […]
